See what some previous guests at Rendezvous Rupert have told us about their stay.

August -Sept2012 083Where do I begin? I spent a quick weekend at Linda’s place, and it could not have been more perfect. I was greeted by some sunshine and incredible coffee (I mentioned I loved coffee, and she was prepared for me — even with cream!), and spent the weekend relaxing and finding some inner calm that I really needed. I studied, practiced some evening yoga, and was able to barbecue and have a nice dinner in the kitchen.

The town of Wakefield was welcoming and near enough for some antique shopping and a stop in at a great local bar (Kaffe 1870) for a glass of wine.

Highlights: the hammock and view of the creek, as well as the neighboring wild turkeys I was able to see one afternoon. I would absolutely be back, and hopefully will make it up when there is some snow for x-country skiing. Linda’s place is really a country treat, and very much a labour of love. Excellent!

Hammock - resized 300-wide and compressedRendezvous Rupert is a piece of paradise. Nestled in the tiny hamlet of Rupert, surrounded by farmers’ fields, forests and lakes, with its own bubbling brook just outside the door-step, it is the perfect place to decompress, rest, spend time with family and friends, do art and run free!

Linda is warm and inviting and will accommodate almost any need. The restored barn is quaint, warm, and hospitable.

And it’s only about 10 minutes to Wakefield, where first-class restaurants and the live music of the Black Sheep awaits.

A perfect combination of nature and culture. I stayed there last year in search of rest and relaxation and found it in spades.

Purple flowers summer 2014_resized 300-wide and compressedI stayed at Rendezvous Rupert one spring for the whole month of May.

I enjoyed being in a place of beauty and solitude, and yet when I wanted to be with people or needed some goods or groceries, lovely and interesting Wakefield was only a very short drive away.

Rendezvous Rupert is a wonderful locale for doing a retreat.

I teach art workshops that involve personal reflection time, and Linda’s space was perfect. The drive there through the hills allows participants a little time to settle into themselves. The expanse of deck, the waving trees, and the intimate barn space all make a terrific venue for a comfortable conversation circle, stretch time and solo time.

I highly recommend Rendezvous Rupert for anyone leading groups and looking for a thought-provoking space that will leave participants with warm memories of their time together.

HRRupert Fall 2011 (resized 300-wide and compressed)Our stay at Rupert was just what we needed: total downtime. The barn is really cozy and warm, and we had many nice walks along the country roads checking out the amazing fall colours. Inside, the open-concept space was great for doing yoga and setting up my canvasses and getting creative.

garden pink flowers_compressedSome places have the wonderful feeling of home from the first moment you arrive, and this is one of them.

Peaceful relaxation is yours in abundance among the wildflowers, gently swaying grasses and the birdsong. You can go for a country ramble, read a book while lying in the hammock with your eyes closed, enjoy a leisurely meal on the deck and all the while dream up dreams.

If you’re looking for a great, tucked-away getaway, a place to slow it all down and refill your internal reservoir, this is it!

Deck summer 2014resized 300-wide and compressedRendezvous Rupert is the ideal and idyllic place to explore your creativity in all its forms. The charming converted barn is situated next to a brook, surrounded by trees and the gently rolling hills of beautiful Gatineau River Valley. In addition to the fully equipped indoor space, a broad veranda welcomes you outside where you can write, paint or dream to the sights and sounds of nature.

My experience left me refreshed, expansive and open to the muse! I was finally able to focus fully and to complete my writing project.

Linda has thought of everything you might need or want to facilitate the creative process. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to rest, enjoy nature and tap into their creativity!

When I went to your place last June, I was really inspired by your environment and the good vibes I was getting from it. It helped me to ground myself and discover where I find I get energized.

I really don’t know where to begin. Our weekend at Rendezvous Rupert was just spectacular. It was the perfect retreat we were hoping for. We spent the weekend carving wood, sketching, and reading. It’s been a very long time since we were so relaxed. I also haven’t slept that well for as long as I can remember.”

Linda is a beautiful, genuine person and we loved meeting her. She made us feel very welcome. I’m so sad we only got to spend two nights here. I would love to spend at least a week sometime — or maybe move in permanently ;p. I felt so inspired and refreshed. We’re planning to make this a semi-annual weekend getaway.”

Linda was fantastic, she was always available to answer our questions as well as give us great insight to trails, stores and live music!

The barn (home) suited us so well; there was art supplies, books, yoga mats, space, heated floors and beautiful scenery. We loved staying there and hated to leave. The overall feeling to our stay was calm, quiet and creative.

Wonderful space, wonderful host, beautiful town.

fields in fall_500 wide_compressedAlthough only staying for two nights, both my boyfriend and I were very refreshed for the work week. There is a stream running right behind the house, which could be walked in and we spent most of our days there.

Rupert and Wakefield are amazing little communities… I recommend exploring the area, as there is a great bakery and a few farms that have honey, meats and other homegrown products.

In this completely different environment, we were able to focus, and to spend the time it takes to tackle bigger issues than is possible during weekly team meetings.

When we debriefed at the end of the retreat, the time alone, in nature, to read and reflect was a highlight for everyone.

It was remarkable to see the difference made by a short walk along the creek, a 10-minute dance party, and a lovely lunch served to us in the garden by Linda. My reward was watching the tensions leave their faces and shoulders.
